The last time I held his hand I was in kindergarten.

Well here's the news on Big Ray, After 3 days trying to get the old-timers BP down and get his fever to break he went in for his shiny new hip, and we have success.

Now he has to recover, The only problem is as he gets older and his (What the Dr's call) early onset Alzheimer's just seems to mess with the poor guy.

My only hope is that he can get up and move, and I'm told they don't mess around and he was probably up last night by 3 am. His surgery was late. He didn't go in till 8pm. Now starts rehab and that's going to be interesting as he's not a great listener. And his comprehension is not what it used to be.

But here's the deal, When he's on his pier, On his little piece of property up north he's fine. His world is smaller than we are accustomed too here in the Chi. And that's where he needs to be. That's where he has a pretty normal quality of life.

It was and is really cool to see how a wife of 56 years will take care of you. They are inseparable and mom is always by his side.

Don't feel sorry for big Ray although he is in a good deal of pain the good will always out number the bad. If you have met him on US99.5 trips you know what a good soul he is.

I wish you all someone to hold your hand in the later years of our life's. Mom always has been there for him as he has for her.

Dad has to be concerned usually its mostly Him and Mom, and then Me on weekends. Lately there's been a lot of activity and I know that worries him, yesterday I asked the Mom and Sisters to leave the rooms so the boys could hang.

As he was enjoying the Meds we drifted off to some of our favorite fishing holes and he asked if I would hold his hand. You have to understand this is a big tough man. I told him it would be all right
.

As I sat there with him I pondered who would be there for me in the end.

Than I just held his hand, It was awesome. Took me back to being a kid. And once again he took care of me. I guess that's the way it will always be.

thanks for all your well wishes!

  6. Hey Ray. Hang in there. That's a key phrase to hang on to. And the key comfort comes from prayer. God Bless you and guide you all on Big Ray's journey. I've been there and the journey is more like a roller coaster ride than a ride down the Riverview Chute the Chutes.
